Hi,
On Ubuntu linux (latest version, up to date, with gnome), when I
do an x-window dump (xwd > file.xwd) the dumped image has other
data in the window that seems to be previous data that used
to be in that window. I really only want what is currently in
the window. Any ideas on what causes this problem and how to
get around it?

Isn't it wonderful how these Windows-clone interfaces like Gnome
make it so easy to run Linux <snicker>?
I'd ditch Gnome. Log into another TTY and start an independent X
session, if nothing else.
Why spend the next three days trying to fix an unnecessary
interface when all you have to do is ignore it?
