"I have at least 4 problems, possibly related, possibly not. In order of
frequency of occurrence:
1. Computer freeze, no audio output, no response to Ctrl-SysRq-R-E-I-S-U-B,
no entries in syslog or elsewhere. Hard reboot required, complete mystery.
2. Computer freeze, Xorg consuming 100% resources, Ctrl-SysRq-R-E-I-S-U-B
resets computer, no log entries. Bug report filed for my hardware here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...rg/+bug/435011 and similar one with
different hardware here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...73/+bug/434416
3. As #1, but with audio "hammering" sound. Hard reboot required.
4. Computer freeze, log entries about CPU#1 being stuck, similar to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/254326, except I'm using
Jaunty, not Intrepid.
My set-up: AMD64, Jaunty, Nvidia (180 driver), 2.6.28-15 kernel
I've tried reverting to older kernel (2.6.28-11), and also older nvidia
driver (173). There is no apparent improvement by changing set-up, but with
so many different problems happening, it's hard to be sure what's going on."

Linux doesn't just work
Linux isn't stable
Linux isn't reliable
Linux does crash
Linux does needs rebooting
Linux is the farthest thing from perfect for desktops |
