Well, being a stinking troll yourself, I guess you would know then, huh?

How would you handle that and what is the most /robust/ way?

Perhaps, by setting the MAKEFLAGS environment variable?

What the hell? Is that supposed to be a secret?

Nah... A sentence like that is typically used by people who wish to
express their loathing for another person and then wish to draw the
attention of the others onto that loathing, hoping to lure them in on
some bashing. I have seen it before, both here with Sidney Lambe/Alan
Connor and in "the real world".

It is quite typical for people with large egos and a false sense of
superiority. Something along the lines of "Look at what the cat
dragged in".

Like all stinking trolls he is incapable of believing that people

How was I abusive to you?

You didn't suck up to him. In his twisted mind, that is considered
abuse, given that he deems himself a deity. I would like to casually
draw the comparison here with the stance of the Goa'uld in "Stargate
SG-1". :-)

Quote:
You want to push people around on usenet, or they are abusive if they
don't tolerate your own abuse?

That pretty much describes it, yes.

Quote:
Is it new for someone to accuse another of being a troll when they
don't agree with them?

Sidney Lambe/Alan Connor *is* a troll, but unlike in the event of the
occasional Windroid /trollness/ often encountered in GNU/Linux, OS/2,
OS-X or other operating system-related groups, this here is a definite
case of /netkookitis./

Looking at your history here, I think it's clear that you're one of
the most unliked, least respected members in the history of the Linux
groups. Man, what a weirdo.

Not so much a weirdo as a psychotic lunatic. The man is a walking
caricature.

I bet you actually think you are making a real threat or somehow are
intimidating.

That, plus that it strokes his ego to think that he has power over you
(or me, or anyone else for that matter).

What an odd fellow you are.

You are all too kind for him.

And an apology to the "real idiots" who might be offended by comparing

Yep. They shift names so as to avoid killfiters, huh Alan?

Fortunately for you, you didn't specify any amount of money on that or I
would be having drinks on your tab right now.

Look at the headers, fool. Run a /traceroute/ on my IP address - which
is semistatic at this stage and will become fully static in about a
month - or whatever, but don't make any stupidly ignorant claims about
easily verifiable facts.

You are projecting again, or are you speaking of yourself in third
person? Well, I haven't seen all that many "loser headcases" yet, but
you certain qualify as one of the biggest netkooks I've ever come
across.

Sid, you forgot to change your alias back to your normal sockpuppet
name. oops.

I prefer my output short and sweet. Here's a sample

tr '+/=' 'AZ9'
aAWbU2X3
~ $

That looks like a good userid to me

Agreed - but mail is less picky about character sets. As mentioned,
_tradition_ and common sense call for all lower case letters, dash,
underscore or digits, beginning with a letter and not ending with a
dash or underscore. If you look at the passwd(5) man page, you'll
find

The field descriptions are:

account the name of the user on the system. It
should not contain capital letters.

which is easily solved by that 'tr' command.

Yes... of course most users would have to write it down because they
can't remember it - but that's a different thread that is beaten to
death many times every year.
