I've released sys_basher as an RPM for Fedora 10, Fedora 11 and RHEL 5
and clones. The RPMS are available in the updates testing repos for F10
and F11, it should be available in the EPEL testing repos for
RHEL5,CentOS5 and SL5 shortly.

sys_basher is a multithreaded hardware stress tester. It tests the CPU,
memory and disk IO. It's designed to put the maximum stress on a system.
The sys_basher memory tests are much better than those in Memtest86+. I
just finished putting together a new iCore7 system that uses 6 DDR3-1600
DIMMs. I have one DIMM that is flaky at the default CAS settings,
sys_basher found the problem immediately, memtest86 ran four hours
without finding it. I was able to fix my problem by adding a cycle to the
CAS latency in the BIOS, sys_basher confirmed that the problem was fixed.

I wrote sys_basher as an aid for overclocking, I use it to find the
maximum limits for each system, but it useful for anyone who wants to
determine if their system is reliable. Sys_basher also does low level
benchmarking for memory bandwidth (at all levels of the memory
hierarchy), integer and floating point performance and disk bandwidth.
The results are presented in a report file and in a series of .csv files
that can be loaded into a spreadsheet.

There is definitely room in the market for this kind of software. If I
were you, I would try and go to the forums for SystemRescueCD
http://www.sysresccd.org/ and argue the merits of trying to get it included.

If you can get them to carry it you'll get a lot of free interest in it,
and hopefully some patches if your lucky ;)

All the best.

That's a good idea, I've posted a message on their contributions forum.
