Hi there,
in Mandrake 10.1 / KDE3.2 it sometimes happens that after locking the
desktop with Ctrl-Alt-l the kde screensaver refuses to unlock, i.e., it
won't release the desktop.
This means, that when trying to unlock it there's no reaction. In this
case I try to open a new virtual destop, let's say Ctrl-Alt-F1, log in and
terminate the screensaver- lock (ps -ef | grep lock, then kill <pid>).
When this doesn't work and you have to "kill -9 <lock pid>" then in most
cases KDE completely crashes and has to be restarted losing all data of
any running X- application.
My question is: Is there a known way to rebuild or reconstruct the
processes' data, for instance via the information found in the /proc tree
or /dev/mem?
Just a question :-)
Best regards,
Markus
