Can anyone recommend any good backup software that will do a complete backup
and restore?
Thanks |

Frankly, in my experience it's difficult to describe any Linux based
backup software as 'good', if you're after disk cloning.
G4L is probably the best of the bunch for disk to disk backups.
Unfortunately I didn't find it reliable or particularly friendly or even
clever for that matter so I'm still forced to use the commercial and
closed-source Acronis True Image.
If you're after 'online' backup solutions to just copy files from one
machine/disk to another machine/disk then there are literally hundreds
of very good solutions. Check Google and your package repository for
suggestions.

Do you have mklivecd available? With this the application takes a
snapshot of your system and creates a live-cd from it.
Then if your system craps out you can simply pop your disc into any other
machine. Your choice to then use it as a live disc or install it.
CD or DVD your option. Likely a stronger option for home users rather
than business ones. |

I checked the available packages and it was not on the list. I would rather
make the backups and save it on shared drive, so if I need to restore the cd,
then I can just pop the disk in the drive, boot and recover the system.

mklivecd will most likely be already installed if your distribution has
it. In a terminal type mklivecd or remasterme and see what happens |
