Well, I think that would take really long. KDE4 doesn't seem to get
better, there are plenty of bugs and many things still doesn't work.
Ebuilds also don't seem pretty — dependencies are fault all over the line.
They have really long way to go.

Yeah, but it would help to make the "long way" a bit shorter since more
people would install it (more bug reports).

It's more about the ebuilds right now, not KDE4 itself.

Thanks, but I think I can wait. I despise .0 releases, and probably want to
wait for 4.2 anyway.

It's available through layman. I tried it and I was very impressed. As
mentioned elsewhere, it's not totally polished. However as it is, very
usable. I have it on a laptop and it constantly blows people away...

I would recommend waiting for 4.1 to turn up in portage though... there are
a couple of compile issues and incompatibilities between new and old
support packages. For instance, qca... kde359/kopete and psi want version
1.x while kde4.1/kopete wants 2.x... not possible at the same time...

Cheers.

I reckon KDE 4.1 will probably hit the stable tree in Portage by
mid-2010. ;-)

You can use psi 0.12 - it uses qca 2.0:

http://psi-im.org/download/
"Requires [16]Qt 4.2.3+ and [17]QCA 2.0+"

Actually, IIRC the reason for 0.12 not being in the tree is that kde and
'all the other qt stuff' require qca 1.
