Hi;
I have been searching for a complete fw/server distro and i have looked at
monowall, and in the groups i saw smoothwall and i would like to give it a
try, but; for now I don't have a free pc to run it on, does it run on
virtual box? can i define samba shares on the system and control them
through the admin interface?
Thanks.

The install of smoothwall will reformat and load up into your hard disk so the
answer is NO you cannot run via a Virtual box unless you installed it on
another disk. To do so I would recommend that you install a secound drive in
place of the original and set it up as master then install smoothwall and set
it up using said drive then test that it is connecting to the internet, then
shutdown and power off pc. Reset drive to slave and reinstall your original
drive back as master and boot of that (should be default as your original boot
loader will not know about the new drive).
This is NOT the way to run smoothwall but if that is what you want !
A far better way is to install a firewall service on your existing distro, it
would be a lot easier.
