No wonder my Suse security icon is red every other day, or more.
Linux more secure than Windows?
Looking at all these hits makes me wonder.
Maybe Linux hasn't been targeted yet because there aren't enough people
using it to make it noticeable?
**plonk**
You will have to forgive me, but I haven't been hanging around in linux
newsgroups for long.
What is this '**plonk**' stuff that appears. Is it supposed to be some
ultimate insult like "so's your mother?" |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plonk
Btw., there is also a article about the sense and nonsense of excessive
crossposting
http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/usenet/xpost.html
For not attracting trolls (another item you will find about on wikipedia), I
have trimmed the advocacy groups from the list.
Actually, the question is totally OT on the groups you posted. I would
recommend alt.usenet.newbies instead.
Also, because of the OT nature of your posting, I changed it to the top
level group (absolutely no ralation to SuSE, much less to XP).
Have fun on usenet

It means that the poster has put the sender of the plonked message into
his killfile. IMO, a public plonker is as vain and egocentric as the
person he's plonking. (And that comment will likely get me plonked by
someone. Maybe even publicly. Heheh.)
Me, I give an offensive poster a couple of chances, because every one
has a case of the growling grumps once in a while. But persistent or
repeated offensiveness causes a plonk. I just don't bray about it.
I have noticed that on some newsgroups public braying about plonking is
more common than on others. On one NG I subscribe to it's never done.
C'est la vie. |
