sarge install hangs at loading 'sd-mod'

Hi,

I have dual hdd system, XP on SATA drive and attempting to load debian sarge on IDE. Installation hangs as, very early on, the installation is "detecting hardware to find CD-ROM drives......'loading module 'sd_mod' for SCSI disk support'.

Any ideas at all? I would love to get this working.
