Too bad for you. I have the perfect link for you. (Which I

Don't want anyone to know your secret super hero identity, huh? While I
agree it's annoying to email someone, you've got serious problems if
you think doing so will compromise your identity or "private info".

''Sid'' is a known troll, aka Alan Connor aka Tom Newton aka about a
half-dozen other aliases I've long since forgotten. The OP is probably
fortunate not to be subjected to ''Sid's'' dubious links that are
invariably out of date, inaccurate, or both.

He's not an idiot, he's a troll. His usenet persona is an idiot, but
that's intentional. (Well, he may well be an idiot in person, but we
have no evidence for that. Unless you believe he's a netkook, which is
entirely possible. But I think posts so well-designed to provoke flame
wars must be trolling.)

Anyone that would spend all day trolling on usenet is an idiot. The act
of trolling is the proof. It's hard to believe when people think the
two are unrelated. I doubt he's trolling to act like an idiot to mess
with people, he clearly believes what he says, and hence he's an idiot
(not that it makes a damn difference anyway).

Entirely possible she picked a name already in use by someone else at
a different ISP. Usual practice is to strip at (no spam) all.domain and run
through a loop generating an email same_id at (no spam) each.isp in list.
Spammer then runs that list through a filter which checks if newly
generated email is in use.

When I pick a new id, I use google to verify id has not been used.
I have had very little spam messages over the years and one event of
family member with an infected doze box which leaked an email addy.
After getting her machine cleaned, threw away email addy and picked
another.

Usenet may be harvested for e-mail addresses for spam but it
is a tiny portion of the usage. Avoiding use of an active
e-mail address on Usenet is like wearing a helmet while riding
in a car - It may help you feel good but the actual data says
it has little effect.

Quote:
The
good news is that you can simply fake your e-mail address on Usenet or
mangle it in such a way that those webcrawlers can't recognize the real
address, or that anything sent to the address as stored in that
database will get dropped by the DNS server, e.g. by adding /.invalid/
as a TLD.

Using a munged address for Usenet postings is not harmful.

I think filling e-mail addresses on web pages explains why
my wife gets so much more spam than I do in spite of my
active Usenet posting.

Just because you stick your head in the sand and cover your ears doesn't
mean that the poster known as September Storm will stop talking, you
arrogant prick, and neither will I for that matter. (Here's a hint: I
don't take too well on bullies. As a disabled person I have had to
suffer them for a long time, but now that I have gained enough strength
to defend myself, I can also defend others. Everytime you bully
someone you will find me on your path.)

There are more people on Usenet than just you alone, and apparently
everyone else but you can appreciate our articles, while yours in turn
are totally worthless in content for the person you are replying to and
only serve as to insult those who really are here to help others.

Here's another hint: of all the posts you've made in this thread so far,
not a single one has addressed the issue the original poster was asking
advice about. The only contribution to this thread you've made is that
you've insulted more people and made more enemies - including myself,
and I am well-known for my huge patience with people - and that you've
managed to throw in your gripe against graphical desktop environments
again. Well, that and the fact that you've once again shown the world
what a fool you really are, of course, but then again that's nothing
new.

Your name has actually already become an inside joke in other
newsgroups, and that says a lot. I would strongly advise you to read
the /man/ page on your antipsychotics again and that you set up
a /crontab/ so that they get administered to you at regular intervals.
You really don't want to shame your Master Sorcerer again now, or do
you, Alan?

(He says in an article that can't be described as anything but
trolling...)

Whenever a usenet bully like "Aragorn" encounters someone they
can't bully they call them a "troll". It's lame, but that's
what they do.

"Aragorn", a wannabee Linux technocrat, doesn't like what I have to
say about the Windows-clone interfaces like KDE and Gnome, because
he wants Linux runners to learn KDE or Gnome instead of Linux.

That way they become dependent on people like him who understand
the real Linux that's obscured by the Graphical Desktop Environment.

He's hoping that one day someone will actually pay him for his
modest knowledge (anyone can learn Linux from the command line,
which is one of the things he doesn't want me telling people).

But he spends all his time trolling (you don't really believe
"Aragorn" is the only weird name he hides behind, do you?) so he
will forever remain a third rate guru.

Who will now shut his punk mouth:

What does Gnome or KDE have to do with Linus operating system "skills"?

How was I abusive to you? You want to push people around on usenet, or
they are abusive if they don't tolerate your own abuse? Is it new for
someone to accuse another of being a troll when they don't agree with

appreciate that, because even though I don't know you, you clearly
