(Considering how easy it is to use googlegroups.com to
monitor newsgroups, there's no excuse for this, and when
you email someone you give them all sorts of private info
in the headers that doesn't happen on the Usenet. That
may be the only purpose of this post, by-the-way, although

He's not an idiot, he's a troll. His usenet persona is an idiot, but
that's intentional. (Well, he may well be an idiot in person, but we
have no evidence for that. Unless you believe he's a netkook, which

yahoo handle. My wife has not posted at all on Usenet since
she switched to using yahoo. If your statement were true
then I should receive more spam than she does. Nope, she
receives at least 4 times as much spam as I do.

One of the main two tools of the spam industry to gather e-mail
addresses these days is by using a Usenet variant of webcrawlers that
gather every poster's e-mail address and store it in a database.

The
good news is that you can simply fake your e-mail address on Usenet or
mangle it in such a way that those webcrawlers can't recognize the real
address, or that anything sent to the address as stored in that
database will get dropped by the DNS server, e.g. by adding /.invalid/
as a TLD.
