Hi

I have just gotten an epson prefection 1670 scanner. Running Mandrake 10
Official Commuintiy. Hard Drake detects the scanner but provides no
configuration options.

Xsane 0.92 in user mode report "Failed to open device
'snapscan:libsub:002:003' Invalid argument".

QuiteInsane sees the scaner reports the scanner data type etc ad the above
address. selecting device reports "unkown error"

In su mode
Xsane roport no devices avaible.
with the fallowing error reported back to the command line.

[snapscan] Cannot open firmware file /path/to/your/firmware/file.bin.
[snapscan] Edit the firmware file entry in snapscan.conf.

Quiteinsane detects the device but allso reports "unknown error"

I searched xsanes site and found that Madrake is a version behind but I am
reluctant to insall as I have experianced problems makeing files rathern
then Using the official Mandrake rpms.

Thanks for the help.

you have to say Mandrake where to find the firmware, I've got a Genius,
and in my case was the file cc548.fw or something similar. Search the
file in the windows directory or in the setup CDROM

good luck

If all else fails, here's a web site that helped me get my Epson scanner
working:

http://khk.net/sane/libusb.html

I have an Epson Stylus CX5400 all-in-one and it works great using libusb.
I could never get it to work using the sane-backend driver for the CX5200
as it is supposed to.
