Why would that be "more" appropriate? Any group meant for testing is
just as "appropriate" as another.

I never understood the concept of a "test" post. If you have something
to say, then post it. If it is screwed up, then fix it as you post. It
isn't the end of the world.

As for mentioning the test groups, hopefully the OP gets it, and 5
others reading who are new get it. So, it probably is worth mentioning.

It's for checking if your nntp is set up correctly before getting to
works and realising mid-flow that you have to bloody do the whole thing
again. Right now.
