Hi
Few weeks ago I bought a unlock HTC PDA phone -- running windows
mobile. For the most part phone was okay. I took the phone to the
library so I could use the free wifi, sadly that was not possible.
I had the same problem with my laptop running Kubuntu (Debian base).
Someone here mentioned tat I should installed win package (windows nt
server resolver or something, along with samba). Long story short, it
solved the problem, and I was able to connect to the library. Just for
the fun of it I took my ipod touch there, and voila everything works.
I find it amusing that Microsoft's own OS won't connect to NT server.
It's quite pathetic. Anyway, I return the phone due to some hardware
problem, but I want to buy a pda phone which would allow me to
communicate with free wifi (running on nt, linux) etc, and if I could
sync with linux, it would be great. Good thing about HTC's pda phone
is that they connecd to hotmail, and gmail accounts -- blackberry
require "data plane"... and other garbage :(
I would be happy if I could get a older pda phone that allows me to do
wap browsing, emailing + keyboard. Any ideas? |

MS has other problem with their mobile version too, one are those binary sms.

I would recommend you wait for Nokia N900, you can already install the
development environment on your Linux machine and make applications that you
think you want to have. Of course it will come with a load of application
already and more can be downloaded from ovi.
