Hello,
For some reason once I finished installing YDL 6.2
I could not log in as root (not sure what the reason
for it was but perhaps I had made the same mistake
twice when entering the root password during
installation).
So what I did was simply reboot and at the kboot
bootloader prompt I entered:
linux single [Enter]
This booted linux and dropped me to a shell
where I was able to use the passwd command
with no arguments to (re)set the root password
and then typed 'reboot' to reboot the system.
So now I can install things on my PlayStation3.
Furthermore YDL 6.2 has the advantage that
AES encryption works properly (as I could not
connect to my wireless router with YDL 6.1).
I selected to boot configure wlan0 with DHCP
during installation and then used the latest
version of WiCD which I think was what was
responsible for not allowing me to connect
in YDL 6.1, so after configuring this the
PS3 connects automatically to my wireless
home network.
But before installing YDL 6.2 I also upgraded
the GameOS to the latest version which is
currently GameOS 3.0.1 so it could even
be that part of the problem was in the
GameOS. Not sure about this one.
Now I plan to use my PS3 as a test
web server as I selected the corresponding
option during the installation.
Best Regards,
