They are still unstable and IMHO you should treat them as such.
I did compile 4.2.1 during the week, there was quite many issues to solve to
make everything to compile.
On my system somehow all font's got 20 times larger than in settings and it
was quite unstable, for example going to settings from the gnome2 foot in the
right top corner KDE4 crashed for me every time. Some parts just didn't work
at all.
Wait at least until it's marked as stable and we get KDE 4.4 version.

I love kde 4.x, but it so different from 3.5.x that I can't really invest a
whole lot of time into it... You see, at work I'm surrounded by 3.5.x.
That said, when a version is released that has a "classic" look and feel
setting, Ill have a more serious look-see.
