Watched TV reality show 30 Days for the first time last night.
Situation was where a gun control advocate lived for 30 days w/ a gun
enthusiast and his kid.
Seemed about as unbiased as you could expect from MSM, if there was any
bias, it would have been toward the gun owner IMO.
Interesting transformations of all three, although I'd say that the gun
control advocate made some pretty impressive changes, although I don't
think she will be applying for a CCW any time soon.
I'd recommend this show to people of both sides, although anyone that is
intolerant of other's positions/viewpoints will probably find plenty to
complain about.

Wife and I watched it Sunday. It was OK. the gun "family" was a
recently-divorced guy with his 14-ish son, living in a cluttered
doublewide on an unkempt lot. While he was well spoken, I think there
were plenty of better choices in this country. A two-parent family in a
nice suburban home, NRA members who compete in organized shoots would
have been a better choice and less of the stereotype gun-nut.

I watched a few clips of a similar show. My problem is when the gun control
law says they want laws to keep guns out of the " wrong hands." The problem
is we already have laws to do that; and when the " wrong hands" are planning
to rob, mug, B&E, home invade, kill and all other assorted mayhem, they are
not going to say, " Oh there is a law against me having a gun, I better not
get one. "

#A common belief is that when there is disagreement all we have to do is
#"talk together" and there will be "understanding". Now this is quite
#often true. However, there is no guarantee that any opinions will
#change. Indeed, quite often understanding another's beliefs or position
#actually hardens divisions. Sometimes there is no compromise, and it
#becomes obvious.
That's true. The anti-gun trash so aften have so many other mental and
moral defects that there is no point in trying to treat with them.

I don't know. I don't mean any disrespect to the gun owner, but it would
have been nice had they picked a more mainstream, suburban, middle class
gun owner instead of a tattood, tank top wearing shooter who lives in a
trailer with three dogs and an old truck in the middle of an old pasture.

He was much better than the meat eating hunter they stuck with a vegan PETA
member the week (or two?) before. I would have torn apart all of the PETA
members (and her vegan associates) senseless arguments instead of just
constantly repeating "I'm not going to argue with you, you'll never change
my views" like Mr. articulate hunter did the whole show.

The same could probably be said about the gun-control advocate (lady) --
I doubt that most antis are that involved in gun control issues.
So, I'd say that the choices were extreme-ish in both cases, and I'd
suspect those choices were made for a reason.
When I first saw the gun enthusiast, I thought "oh boy, nice choice".
But, at the conclusion of the show, my opinion of the guy and his boy
was much different.
