Oh, geez. Here we go again. Mr. Know-It-All is going to start
spanking people in this newsgroup again because nobody in the world
knows anything except for him--except he never truly defines his
position, he just constantly points out where the other person is
wrong.

Who or what awoke you, Neil?

I think it is totally amazing that the only opinion one can have is to
agree that Neil is right, no matter what. Opinions that go contrary
to his are wrong. Nobody is allowed to disagree with him.

He is a lot like the Imam who is trying to get that mosque built by
Ground Zero. He is supposed to be "bridge builder" but all of his
roads go only one way--and Neil is exactly the same way.

I guess nobody should post anything that even hints at an opinion in
here unless they send an e-mail to His Majesty to get his blessings.
Of course, he would probably still have some smart ass thing to say
about it once it gets posted.

Remember: Neil is the voice of tolerance--he just does not tolerate
any view that is contrary to his.

Sorry, guys. I have been out of it today because my sister went under
the knife a little over five hours ago for breast cancer. They
removed the tumor and a bunch of lymph nodes and her prognosis looks
good but it was a stressful day nonetheless.

Then the first thing I do to relax a bit is to log into
rec.woodworking and see "The Fool" is back. I couldn't control
myself.

Clearest coverage I've seen yet, with some decent history as well:

The last I knew TheOnion.com was a parody site, with no real information.

The Onion is therefore our competition.

Unless there are multiple variants, I remember it as follows:

"I think all right thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being
told that ordinary decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and
tired. I'm certainly not, and I'm sick and tired of being told that I am."

"Ah, she's a bit ugly though, isn't she Sir?"
"Umm, ugly, Sarge?"
"Yes Sir. As in 'not attractive to men' Sir."

To reply, eat the taco.

It is my opinion that the facts presented do not support anyone else's
opinion.

OPINION - 1. A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not
substantiated by positive knowledge or proof:

Here's another - very close but it lends a different perspective than your
chosen one...

1. a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce
complete certainty.

As you can see - the total absence of fact is not stated in either
definition.

So, then, if one has an OPINION, one does NOT have facts.

False logic.

That could be, as in "the stimulus worked," but having an opinion at
variance with the facts is called insanity.

Quick switch. Worse logic than false logic.

Oh no! Quite often an opinion is based on facts,

All right! We have a nugget upon which we can hold to a certain level of
agreement. I hold to the notion that opinion can well be founded on fact -
albeit an interpretation of fact. The problem comes in that interpretation
part. If all fact were nicely discernable then the world of discernment and
defintion would be much cleaner, but...
