Hello all,
What's actually the difference between the Springfield M1A National Match
and Super Match
and do you think those differences are worth the money? I can read the
website, but figured someone
could put it in plain english for me.... I would be using the gun to shoot
groundhogs (and play at the range).

The National Match meets the requirements for, well, formal National
Match competition. There are specific things that are permitted under
those rules and things that are forbidden. The Super Match doesn't
necessarily qualify for that. I see it's got a rear lug receiver and
probably a heavy barrel. Kind of overkill for groundhogs. Also kind
of expensive for a plinker, particularly at the cost of match ammo
these days. If you've got the spare change, go for it. Just remember
you probably aren't getting any GI parts in the thing these days, they
aren't necessarily mil-spec and are mostly castings. To me, the
current crop's not worth it, but then, I built mine decades back when
TRW parts kits were around.
If you've got that sort of cash hanging around, take a look at the
ARs, you can get them in all sorts of flavors these days, even .308-
headed ones. They'll stay accurate, too, match-bedded M1As take very
careful handling to keep them that way. An AR would make a better dog
gun. .204 is what I went with for the latest, I have other uppers.

Not g familiar with 'Super Match".
Got a National Match some time ago.
