He lives in Bedford, New York.

"I write for readers from third grade through high school. My favorite
level is junior high on up. On this level one can give a great deal
more information than one can for younger kids, and one doesn't have
to spend so much time worrying over whether the readers will
understand it. Still, writing for younger readers is very good
training. At all levels, I think that clarity, accuracy, and honesty
are vital to good writing. I have no patience with obscurity or
sloppiness. The writer must get his message across as clearly and
simply as he can--otherwise he's not doing his job. I think this holds
as true of writing for adults as it does of writing for
thirdgraders."
