Question about the Mossberg 50516...

So I figured it was time to get a shotgun. I'd settled on the Mossberg
50411. So I tootle off to the local gun store. He didn't have the
50411 in stock but he did have a 50516. I got him to quote me on the
50411 and the 50516 came in substantially cheaper. As far as I can
tell, the only difference is that the 50516 has the heatshield. Other
than that, it's pretty much the same gun, including the capacity and
pistol-grip option included.

But still, something doesn't sit right about it being so much cheaper.
But the thing is, I haven't been able to find any information on the
50516. Mossberg doesn't list it on their site and the auctions sites
have it but their specs list pretty much the same as the 50411. Any
other comments I have found have been asking what it is but with no
illuminating replies. So what gives? Is it an EOL item? Are some of
the parts actually lower quality/cheaper than the 50411? Is it a
rebadged Maverick?

I'm sure I'll be happy with what I have either way but I'd just like
to know what's goin on.

Thanks

Rich

More demand for the 411 as they are often acquired in bulk by PDs

Supply and demand.

For example, it costs much less to build a pickup truck than a car, but
trucks, being in high demand in many areas of the country, sell for the
same prices as regular automobiles.

#It appears that the 50411 has a blued finish, while the 50516 has a
#parkerized finish.

If that's the only difference, that works for me Smile
