He lived in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
He was also a program director at Boston's Museum of Science.
"The Needham Science Center works with all the elementary schools in
[Needham, Massachusetts.] This brings me into direct contact with some
two thousand young children each year. It is their curiosity,
excitement, and enthusiasm that makes me write books for them.
Children so enjoy sharing the things they like with me [that] I can do
no less than return the favor. . . . I would urge every children's
author to visit a local elementary school. As the local `resident'
author in our school system, I am asked to do so regularly. The
experience will make you want to rush right home and write another
book."
