I've got my own opinions as to which features of each mix that I
prefer,
but I'll wait to see what others have to say.
God, that is so glorious a song!
It is more than just hit!
This is such a fine tribute to so many beautiful souls!
Your family is so blessed by this work!
Your son's smile shines through your composition here, Rich!
Thanks, Robert. Can we consider the hatchet buried now? I sure hope
so.
I appreciate your comments!
Yes! My apologies and deepest sorrow for all. |

I like the new mix Rich. Smoother...better balanced. I would however
drop the volume on the drums a bit. They *stand out*, away from the
mix. Your vocal is improved, but I'm not sure what was done
differently.
I'm listening on the PC...so it may sound different on monitors or a
home system.
Excellent.

Thanks, Dave!
I agree on the drums. My son's used to mixing in totally different
genres. For this song, I think they're too loud. He's also compressed
them a lot, which robs them of dynamics. I think they should be quieter
in the beginning and build in intensity.
With respect to the vocals, it's the same track as before; it wasn't
re-recorded. He worked some sort of magic, using multiple delays. You
can't really hear the delays explicitly, but they make the vocal fuller.
I shall have to extract details from him in ways that only a father can!
;-)
We worked on this for almost a day a couple of months ago. I feel that
I should have learned more from him than I did, but he works at blinding
speed. Then this afternoon I was at his home while he finished it up,
after which he and his wife took me out for a belated birthday dinner.
A very rewarding day in all! |

Rich, I honestly prefer the old version
better, and the way you programmed the drums, and the new
version sounds over produced. The old version sounds perfect
to my ears. I think you ought to ask your son to play on some
of your other songs though. "Ralph"(the purple canary) would
be my first pick. I also think you should get your songs in
Itunes or Rhapsody. They're good enough.
Jeff
Thanks, Jeff. I like certain aspects of the old one and certain
aspects of the new one.
Rich, I'm a fan, no matter which mixes, versions you use.
Thanks!
You know Rich, I just thought about something: You
could take that song and start off soloing..before the
song begins, and have even more fun.
I'm not saying it would sound better though.
