Here is most of the gorgeous Signore ascolta from a rehearsal.
Conductor Daniel talks too much and sings too much, but what is shown
of Eglise is ravishing. Especially that final forte high Bb which se
diminuendos to a threadlike whisper.

That's my girl.
The way she articulates "quanto cammino" is quite magical in my
opinion.
This is imho what her real repertoire will be in a few years.
Thanks, Ed.
PS Is that Domingo narrating the film?

No, it's not Domingo. It's conductor Daniel Oren, without his Yamulka.
Can't you hear the Hebrew accent in his Italian? I saw him in Verona
when he burst upon the scene in the late 80's-early 90's, and back
then he always wore his Yamulka when conducting. Maybe he converted?
In any event, the Italians loved him, and I'm sure they still do.

Hi...
My first encounter with Daniel Oren was at Naples Teatro San Carlo...he
conducted "Lucia" with Mariella Devia...nice to hear the opera where it
first appeared...I had a "poltrona"(arm chair) in the front row of the
orchestra section right behind him...he wore the Yamulka then and hummed
very loudly while conducting.- Hide quoted text -

Yes, I have also seen him when he hummed and sang very loudly during
performance. Maybe he is a frustated opera singer!
