My seed feeder has not seen a lot of activity-mostly chickadees. Once
in a while I see this bird - moderate size - solid black back and a
white belly. I can't find it in my book.

What!? You can't recognize a New England Hovering Penguin when you
see one?
But seriously, the only thing even remotely similar to that
description I can think of would be an Eastern Kingbird.

A little bit bigger than a sparrow?
Two longitudinal white stripes in the tail when it's spread for flying?
Not really BLACK but surely a dark dark slate color?
Mebbeso a junco?

That must be it. The Junco doesn't have the solid black back that this
bird does. The picture of the Kingbird looks like my visitor.

That must be it. The Junco doesn't have the solid black back that this
