Just thought I'll start a somewhat get-to-know-a-thing-about-your-
fellow-poster kinda thread.
Two questions: when was the first time you posted on this group? and
something funny or unique about your cricket that the posters here may
not know, and which you'd like to share.
I'll start off with me:
First Post - May 2009 (I guess I am the youngest here in terms of
first post)
Unique thing - I ran away from home to make it big in cricket coz my
parents didn't support cricket for a career...went from Pune to Nagpur
and attended trials for Vidharba U-19 and Ranji...got selected for
U-19. After 3 days, no money, no food, so went back home...lol! I was
16 then. |

1. I think '97. (And I don't want to think too much about it)
2. After a debut season in which I set a club record for 'most wickets'
bowling only out-swingers the coach said; "at your pace you should be able
to swing it both ways." After some asiduous pre-season work this was
accomplished and in the first game of the season I bowled 5 consecutive
outties to the batscum and then unleashed the all new innie. He shouldered
arms and had his off stump knocked out of the ground. YOU FUCKING BEAUTY.
Had a twilight game the following Tuesday, the innie was ok but I'd never
bowled better outties. They were veering away like someone had switched on
a high pressure air hose. How good was this? Never bowled another outtie in
the rest of the season. Or the 13 seasons after that. Lost it completely.
Funny old game.

1. July, 1991
2. All the cricket I've ever played has been French (I was 22 before I
saw the real thing).
