I like the way these canadian motorcyclists THINK. ;^)
Thanks ('cause I don't think our government like us at all!).
You might remember that, several years ago, all Canadians were
required to register their long guns (handguns have already been
registered for decades). And the government of the time (Liberals, of
course) didn't just use a little intimidation, they went all out.
Failure to comply was declared a federal criminal offense; you could
go to jail and get a criminal record for not complying. Well, some of
us said, "Screw you. We don't trust you." and didn't register anyway
(I'll let you guess whether I was among their number <ahem>).
So last week, a guy I know who had dutifully registered all his long
guns, told me he had just received a letter in the mail. It wasn't
from the Federal Gun Registry beaurocrats, no siree. It was from the
RCMP. And the letter informed him he MUST pay a $50.00 fee or turn in
his guns. Interesting... |

HUH? What was the rational?
Considering the sitting government (Conservatives) are once again
trying to get the registry abolished I can't imagine anyone, RCMP
included, would be enforcing the goofy guidelines.
Well, the guy who told me was a former national news reporter (one you
might even recognize). He was somewhat alarmed that it had come from
the RCMP. The letter came from the Maritimes, where he had formerly
resided (and, presumably, registered). I think it was just the
government deciding that registered gun owners should pay more.
To me, the lesson is: Once they've got your name, you are permanently
at their mercy. |
