Hello everyone, it has been a while since I've been reading this group
so I hope that this topic hasn't been covered before (I did search and
didn't find anything). I seem to recall Ocean of Nuance (Sharon) was
in love with the TB Rock Hard Ten and wanted him as her dressage
horse. Well I think I've found her a better one and her name is
Zenyatta. She's a huge 17.2 TB who is undefeated winning all 13 races
and is set to defend her championship in the Nov 6 Breeders Cup Ladies
Classic or try the boys for the first time in the Nov 7 Breeders Cup
Classic.
But what makes here unique is her pre-race presence. She does this
spanish walk, been known to do half passes and tempis during the post
parade. All of which she does naturally. Too bad she's a champion race
horse because I think she'd do well in dressage. Anyway I've added
some links from You Tube if you would like to see her in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZ_pPXpISoA
(at the 1:24 mark she is doing her Spanish walk)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pEaS9y277s
(Tribute video - showing her races and pre-race antics)
Wonder what it would like to ride her?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv49V2RzgHw
Finally, her last start, the Lady's Secret (she's #5):

Not for nothing, but she lolls her tongue, and she is off on her right
hind. Frankly, not a dressage prospect. I hope they rest her, that
back leg is going, going, gone, soon. :(

DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!
And you're not kidding.
Any 17 HH black horse should be purchased for "dressage's future" in my
opinion. No questions asked. Dressage needs these animals far more
than racing does (DUH!).

She's so talented!!! And her saddle pad looks like the Swedish flag!
Sweden is like 90% atheist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More than a coincidence??????!!!!!!!
Note the comment about how she could be a dressage horse. DUH! no,
DOUBLE DUH!

Wow. I have called Secretariat a "freak" and I think she seems to be
one also. I hope some rich dressage person buys her soon before she
hurts herself dicking around on the track.
(She should be scoped for ulcers BTW)
SHE DOES A GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!
She better not hurt herself.
Yep, she's a freak. A freak of dressage most likely.
When we have a 17.2 HH mare racing and risking injury, the world should
have a BIG problem with that, not just the dressage world.
On behalf of all things rational, decent, and upstanding I want to thank
you all over the place for this post. If I hadn't already nominated a
post from Cricket for post of the month I would have nominated this one.

Not if she leaves the track. There is always hope.
17.2 HH mares should not be on the track.

I thought I would provide an update. Zenyatta became the first female
to win the Breeders Cup Classic today. She is now undefeated in 14
starts. It wasn't an easy race. First off one of the starters (Quality
Road) had a major melt down in the gate, and was scratched. This
delayed the start forcing the horses to be backed out of the gate. I
thought that this might have a negative impact on her since she is
such a big mare that I'm sure the gate is very uncomfortable for her.
She was a little reluctant she did go back in the gate. She broke
slowly as usual and on the wrong lead. At one time she was at least 10
or 12 lengths behind, but she managed to catch up to the field and
weave her way through to win going away by about a length. And with
all of her starts she had her ears forward as she crossed the wire.
Below is the link to the race if anyone is interested in watching:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt-88DTxeYs
The video is very slow loading... still haven't seen most of it and now
it won't load at all.
Clearly, the world is trying to get a look at the knuckleheadedness of
folks who would race a 17.2 HH bay mare FEI prospect.
Hopefully she wasn't hurt. She's on borrowed time in that regard.
sharon
Yeah, she'd make boatloads of money showing dressage, and her
foals would be priceless. ;-)
That's like saying the price of paint is too high to use to create the
Mona Lisa. :)
sharon
A truly talented artist can create a masterpiece from less than
perfect raw materials. :-D
;-) Tough call...race her and make millions and sell her foals and
make millions....or train and show dressage and spend millions.

Okay that was pretty funny. :)
But I just want to point out that we are discussing a 17.2 HH dark bay
mare. Let's not lose sight of the underlying facts, shall we? :)
sharon
LOL....tall bay mares are a dime a dozen. There are pages and pages
of them on dreamhorse, just to start. I'd say Zenyatta's found her
niche on the track. ;-)
And to branch out into other colors, here's a pretty darned nice
chestnut that's put together pretty well...and priced cheap. If only
I had an extra stall.....http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?
form_horse_id=1472943&share_this=Y
Or if 17.2+ bay mare is the only criteria for FEI ....here ya
go: http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1195919&share_this=Y
(NOT!!)

He's a pretty thing from his photos and quite large, but he's chestnut

for him as an FEI prospect. ;-)
I have a friend with a Hennessey Anglo-Trak mare. She was bred to
be a dressage horse and her younger full sister looks like she is
going to be a good one, but Sindarin is showing a strong tendency
to be a natural-born show hunter.
I think they are pretty good at telling us their jobs, but sometimes
we humans are rather deaf and interpret things by what suits us.

Yes they are tremendous athletes, or Storm Cat wouldn't command such a
high stud fee. That said, bad forelegs don't make for good jumpers do
they? Its easier to keep one that's well conformed sound than one with
bench knees.. I think that some of the breakdowns have to do with hard
work too early on dirt tracks, but what do I know..anyway, we all know
that the Storm cats are darn fast animals for the most part.

I don't doubt he's pretty, I wonder why the dressage folks don't like a
good moving chestnut horse? Perhaps its because bright colors tend to
amplify bad riding. Chesnuts are perceived as hot tempered for some
reason when In my experience that is absolute malarky.

Right, and most problem behaviors in horses tend to rear their ugly
heads when people try to force a horse into a mold he just won't fit
into, no how, no way.. The George would say you have to learn to
lisssssssten to your horse. If you can't do that you may as well get
off and ride the fence rail for awhile.
