Lots of personal opinion here--that might be a contributor to the problem.
We were talking about "Red Bellied" Woodpeckers not having red bellies
(that we can see, anyway). And their heads are not really red, more orange.
"Purple" Finches are not purple (or any color with blue in it)--they are
red (and brown).
"Red Tailed" Hawks don't really have red tails--more reddish brown.
Do I have a Chromaticity Defect?

Around here they really do have red tails. Perhaps there are regional
differences. |
