I was researching the area, and I was wondering who the top heraldic
artists were. http://www.idtg.org/archive/tag/heraldic-artists/ lists
a few seemingly good living ones, but I can't really judge them, even
less against history. My candidate for a top ten would be Hugo Gerhard
Ströhl. But I'm intrigued what everyone else's top few might be.

Yes, Mr. Ströhl did very nice work indeed: he seems a realist. These
days however, I think that Anthony Wood has them all beat. He does
both realism and fantasy oriented heraldic work as well. All of it is
great.

His book, "Heraldic art & design is avaible at Amazon and features a
great deal of his work.
