2 1 Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs $15,809,039 -36.9% 2,977 -142 $5,310 $81,501,320
3 Toy Story / Toy Story 2 (3D) $12,491,789 1,745 $7,159 $12,491,789
14 9 9 $1,398,401 -52.7% 1,598 -427 $875 $29,441,230
30 27 Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs $231,966 -18.9% 263 -22 $882 $195,703,253
32 30 Up $212,283 -16.9% 254 -35 $836 $292,438,123
53 42 Ponyo $50,688 -53.3% 117 -46 $433 $14,904,706
59 83 Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone $24,777 +203.3% 6 $4,130 $75,324
107 120 Walt & El Grupo $1,387 +133.9% 3 +2 $462 $14,090

I guess even with added 3D, people aren't going to get all that excited
about a rerelease. So the TS double feature didn't have much of a boxoffice
impact.

Possible "9" Spoilers

I was finally able to catch "9" last weekend. The movie has some
entertainingly staged fight scenes: Man, do they make heavy use of the stereo
sound. Smile But the story was so muddled I couldn't make any sense of it. I
was confused as to the goal of the big machine. I briefly thought it was
trying to unite the 9 parts to then recreate civilization, but by the end the
heroes were still fighting to destroy it. The big climax surrounds the fact
that the 9 have parts of a soul (Did the scientist's behavior change as he was
losing parts of his soul?), but the lost parts are simply buried; no reunion.
The movie felt very lacking in a payoff. I then found the original short on
youtube, but it didn't really answer the questions I had about the movie.
None of the premise about machines taking over the world (Man, Harlan Ellison
and James Cameron should sue. Smile is even hinted in the original short.
