Quote: Any other recommendations?
For a history lession: William Cecil Slingsby's "Norway: The Northern
Playground". Probably works best with some geographic knowledge of the
Norwegian mountains, or at least a map of Jotunheimen, to get a sense
of what monster trips they (Slingsby and his Norwegian guides) did in
the 1870s/1880s. Considered one of the great classics in Norwegian
mountaineering literature, by the father of Norwegian mountaineering.
