Lawn mower blade fell off...

Aside from assisting hedgehogs in to raised gardens, I also cut my front
lawn this avo, as a rare period of sunshine fell upon us (don't worry, this
drought will soon pass with rain back on saturday, phew).

Lawnmower was making a bit of a funny sound. Being old however i didnt worry
too much. I bought it second hand at a repo auction and have run it for over
a decade. It gets a semi regular sevice although I have not lavished money
on it. It is slowly wearing out.

Anyhow, on one run the mwer decide to throw the blade off. Maybe easily
fixed, maybe not. The blade may be a little out of balance or might need a
new nut. Maybe it is just knackered.

Reminded me of one occasion I got it serviced. The a seal arrnd the shaft
running down from the motor to the blade was leaking a bit of oil. With use,
oil had sprayed through he underside of the body. Mower mechanic easily
repaired the seal but also told me (and he was serious) what a wonderful job
I had done rust proofing the body of the mower, using oil. Most people do
not think about rust proofing the underside of the body whereas I obviously
had. Well done he told me.

Hmmmm. Benign neglect and in attention to a small oil leak had him singing
my praises.

almost time to sample last summers home made cider. Away with workmates next
week, they will be the first to 'sample' some. From there, recording a radio
show over a couple of bottles with a mate who likes cider (at least for
now). "Bring the good stuff" he told me. Maybe, but we won't know until the
bottle is opened. Oh the joy to inflict dubious home brews on friends and
workmates. Supressed sadistic snigger.

I recently kegged 6 carboys of cider from last fall, and pressed apples to
refill 5 of them. A few from last year had been sweetened with honey. Yummy!
