Aka Siny Iterson, S. Rose Van Iterson, S. R. Van Iterson.

She was born in the Caribbean, in Curaçao and her family soon moved
back to the Netherlands. After WWII, she and her husband returned to
Curaçao and eventually to Colombia. In 1972, she was nominated for the
Hans Christian Andersen Medal.

From "Something About the Author":

"The jungle and the crowded cities were the backdrops for the plots,
while the Colombian people, with all their colorful customs and
beliefs, supplied rich characterization."
