In the same box from my grandparents (see the lovely statuette picture
in a recent post) I found a few small limoges pieces:

http://www.sc3.net/limoges.htm

You can see the size from my fingers in the pictures, the blue pitcher
is 2.5" tall, the red pitcher is 2" tall.

What would these be called? Miniature tea sets or something?

Is it possible my grandparents traveled to France, or are these the
kinds of pieces one can pick up in the US as well?

The painting on the bottom of the red set is pretty sloppy, is it
possible it's a ripoff?

Thanks,
Chris

Hey Chris,

That's a transfer on the red set, as opposed to hand painting. Look it
up. It's easy.

No, it's not a ripoff. That's the way it was sold. It wasn't stuff for
the super rich.

Did they go to France. Maybe not. The USA is full of that stuff.

Miniature tea set? Works for me.

You can date them by the use of the word "France" as opposed to "Made
in France". Look it up.

The blue set is much better.

Best Wishes,

T.

T's right.

If you want to see a full set like your blue one (or maybe a
"marriage" set), go to eBay # 260473437416

It's a closed auction, so you'll have to sign in to view it.

The blue set has absolutely no wear on the bottom;
that seems odd for an item intended as a toy.
