Hi all -
I just learned via SuperTopo that Brutus of Wyde died in a car
accident on his way to climb Castle Rock Spire in Sequoia National
Park. I never had the opportunity to meet Brutus, and don't know any
details beyond what was discussed at SuperTopo.
The SuperTopo thread is here: http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.html?topic_id=880640&tn=0
I'm not sure if anyone is left who hasn't migrated to other sites, but
since he was such a significant part of the rec.climbing community, it
seems important to note here, too.
I'm very sorry to pass on this news.

This is truly a sad day, Brutus gave this group many years of his most
wondrous life...I'm stunned, totally...
He was always a kindred spirit to all who used this forum and the many
others he was into.
Brutus, you will be sorely missed. may your climbs continue forever...

Ben:
Hey, do you have access to post to Supertopo...???
I've tried, since you posted this, to subscribe to the forum but for some
reason I can't get thru. If I posted an eulogy for Brutus Could you post it
to Supertopo for me...???
Thanks,
Ratzzz... |

Very saddened by this- so many entertaining threads come to mind over the
years.
My condolences to those who knew him.

I come here once every months to check on things... and this is what I
learn. Brutus was one of the r.climbers I've communicated with over the
decades, but never climbed with unfortunately.
Cars kill more climbers and even the worst routes.
Sad, real sad.
Don't forget to read his disclaimer !
