Yolo Bypass/Sacramento Waterfowl hunters?...

I'm new to hunting in general (but not to the outdoors - I've an Eagle
Scout and have been backpacking and camping my entire life), but I've
always wanted to get started, and feel like now is as good a time as
ever. I'm a student as UC Davis, and I know that the Yolo Bypass is a
great place to hunt waterfowl, but I'm not really sure where to start
beyond acquiring a gun and waders (like what decoys to use, what the
etiquette is when you get to the site, etc).

Are there any more experienced guys who hunt this area regularly who
would be willing to show me the ropes or maybe take me along to watch
once the season starts? I'd be glad to buy you dinner or whatever as
a thank you, I would just like someone to watch so I don't have to
"learn everything the hard way".

Just go ahead and email me at mlaustin (at) ucdavis (dot) edu

Thanks,

Matt

This approach is certainly a good start.

One online place I would suggest is "The Duck Hunter's Refuge" forum
(http://refugeforums.com/refuge/) - there are usually at least 500
people logged on during the day. I would start out in the California
Flyway forum to start out.

Or better yet pass on the tips and information here on the newsgroup.
There has to be a couple of people who would be interested.
