Can you export Band in a Box files to Sibelius, and vice versa?

More importantly, can you modify Band in a Box files within the
program? Or add your own melody over the canned files?

Thank you for your time,

Karen R.

Only through MIDI. Export the BiaB file as .mid and import that into
Sibelius. You'll need to fiddle around with the quantization settings in
Sib to get a good result, and be prepared to do some touching up.

Yes. BiaB contains sequencing functionality, but not the most user friendly
one. Read the manual, it's pretty well written.
But since you have Sib, it would perhaps be easier to write the melody in
Sib, export as .mid and import it into your BiaB file.

Quantization settings are not something I've fiddled with. Something
else I get to explore now.

I was wondering if "Band in a Box" would be worth buying, but couldn't
decide if it'd be worth it, or usable with Sibelius at all. Now I
know. You've been a great help. Though it looks like I have another
steep learning curve ahead of me, I think I will be buying it.

Thank you,

Karen R.

Note that BiaB is NOT a sequencer - it has a lot of the basic functionality

of one, but those are really extras. If you it's sequencing you want to do,
look for a real sequencer (Cakewalk, Cubase, etc.)
BiaB is formost an automatic accompanist - and really shines in that
respect. With the addition of RealTracks in the past few years, it can
actually be used on stage as a backup band. But most people use it for
practicing, or just for the fun of being able to play with a band without
actually having a band available.

I don't know Sibelius, but I'm planning to upgrade to Finale 2010 that
integrates the arranger features of Band in a Box.

Read here for the new features:
