Selling antiques on Craigslist...

Have some friends who have a bunch of antiques they'd like to sell, and
have had no luck with any local dealers. They're considering listing it
on Craigslist.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has had any actual experience doing this.

The other possibility, of course, is eBay. Here's how I figure the
comparative advantages and disadvantages:

Craigslist:
+: It's free
+: It's simple, requires no registration
+: It's localized
-: Much more hit-or-miss than eBay

eBay:
+: Wider audience; more eyeballs
-: Not localized: must specify local pickup only
-: Not free
-: More complex to list; requires registration

I'm advising them to go ahead and put up some listings on CL. Doesn't
cost anything. (This is in the San Francisco Bay Area.)

Greatly limits your market, but I've done it.

You get less than you can on ebay, but nowhere near the hassle of ebay
