The phrase “Brick Workout” in triathlon has been attributed over the
years to a lot of sources and been the subject of a lot of triathlon
mythology. Here’s how it really happened….
I had the great good fortune to have Mark Sisson as a friend for most
of my adult life. I’ve also had the great misfortune to have had him
for a coach when I was racing in triathlon as a member of the Pioneer
Electronics Triathlon Team in the late 80’s. Mark, who had been fourth
in the Hawaii Ironman and had run a 2:18 marathon by the time we met,
just could not understand why any triathlete, if they worked hard
enough couldn’t go as fast as he could. Looking back I don’t think he
could even spell “genetics” then. Being from Maine where the phrase
“hard work” has a whole other definition didn’t help matters, but I
digress. <MORE...http://afacblog.org> |
