Well, we finally got snow on the ground here in Cranbrook, BC. It melted by
afternoon, but the surrounding high country and mountains are glistening
white. 10 more cm of the white stuff forecast for tonight. Lots of trucks
running around town with their sled decks already loaded.....

That's excellent... for you. I think it's going to get very ugly for
snowmobilers "down here".
Got an e-mail from the NRDC yesterday, one day after our election... the
first line was " It sure feels good to be an environmentalist this morning."
and it goes on to say that "On the most important issues of the day -- from
global warming controls to clean energy solutions to wilderness
preservation -- President-elect Obama campaigned on behalf of far-sighted
policies that NRDC has championed for years."
Obama is further "out there" than Clinton was... and we went through
hell trying to keep that nut from banning everything from everywhere.
I think we can figure on having a lot of areas made off-limits to any
kind of motorized recreation, virtually all firearms classified as "assault
weapons" and made illegal, and huge cost increases for pollution controls on
everything from weedwhackers to outboard motors and snowmobiles.
"Suddenly it's cool to be an American again"... my ass. >:-(

P.S. My spellchecked didn't like the word "Obama" and suggested "Osama" as
the replacement. Don't know why that surprised me.

It is unusual for us not to have snow on the ground for Hallowe'en, but
the ground is still bare here in central Saskatchewan. The projections
for this winter are to have normal to above normal snow fall and colder
than average temperatures. I still have some outside work to do and a
rebuilt engine to get back in the car and broken in before putting it
away for the winter, so I'm not ready for snow yet. There are also a
couple more things I'd like to do with the sled, but nothing that can't
be put off.
