I finally made it out to the new course on the island--Newport Dunes.
It was an amazing change of pace from your typical Corpus Christi
track. The fairways were perfect, the greens fast, the bunkers deep,
and vegetation ate balls. I actually played fairly well by playing my
short-knocker game and keeping it out of the crap lining the fairways.
I did have a 10 on one hole where I drowned two balls, but I only lost
one other ball. And there was free beer after the round!
A guy I used to work with works there and said I can get me on as his
guest on weekdays--I just need to arrange some time off from work to
do it. I definitely want to get back out there.
Here's some pics I took. They are crappy photos taken with a cheap
camera that don't do the course justice, but the give you an idea of
the layout.
