As far as we know, The Nose (Cruiser) has qualified for the Young
Jumper Championship Regionals at The Hampton Classic (Lonk
Island, NY) just before Labor Day.

The good news is that is a Very Big Deal; the bad news is we will
have to drive the length of Long Island. <Aaargh>

My sister check with the YJC people - there was a mixup on his
registration so he did not appear in the database but they had
cashed the check Smile - and the Person In Charge said he was
definitely in.

He will need to get into the top 15 after his first two classes
(Level 5 - 4'0"-4'3") in Jumper 2. If he makes it, he will have
a day off and then jump in the Grand Prix ring which is grass
and has natural obstacles like banks and ditches.

One nice thing is that the course designer (Conrad Homfeld)
is designing the courses the second week in Vermont. So we
will have a sense of the track he will set for Five Year Old
Jumpers as he will also be designing the courses at the Hampton
Classic. So that is good.

We have two international level course designers at Vermont
(Jamie Oliver and Homfeld) and then Homfeld at the Hampton
Classic.

This is good. They test the training as well as ability.

The Nose saw his last jump before Vermont on Sunday. He
will be doing all flatwork until he arrives in Vermont.

Cruiser (The Nose) has been nothing less than a delight since
we imported him. He had a handful of rides before Donal looked
at him; he has answered every question happily.

He's a damned fine horse.

Salute Cruiser!

We are hoping to drive down to see him jump if we can make the
arrangements. Do you have a class schedule?

The horses here are also ready for visitors, so let us know if you
think you can make it for a visit. :-)

 Prizelist is at

http://vermonthorseshows.com/pdf/08VSFPrizeList.pdf

Off the top of my head for each week (we will be there weeks 4
and 5)

Cruiser has his Young Jumper class late on Thursday.
Then he has Level 5s on Friday and Saturday first thing in the am.

Choccie has the high/low hunter class early on Wednesday and Thursday.
His A/A classes with Nina are mid to late afternoon on Friday and
Saturday.

If you guys or Madeline or anyone else in the area wants to meet up
for
a rec.eq get-together, email me and we can try to get together. My
address is not munged.

The horses here are also ready for visitors, so let us know if you
think you can make it for a visit. :-)

This is something Nina and I definitely want to do. I have shown her
your photos of her Arabs and she just says, everytime, "Damn, I do
like a good Arab horse." Smile We'll try to coordinate schedules.

be able to get any time off. I would love to come up and meet people

Congrats to The Nose!
You should be so proud.

I am. He's a fine horse; he has scope and heart and he
likes his job. I wish I could describe his look when he
locks onto a jump. It is just totally "Yeah! I can do this."

He has changed from a gawky baby a scant year ago to this
absolute tiger on course. I can hang out with him beside
the ring, playing The Nose Game and admonishing him that
No, you should NOT eat the ring fence. After warmups he
is all business.

I don't want to sound anthromoporphic, but it's really
great when your horse likes his job!

Sue--

you are so right about it's great when the horse likes his job!
You're so lucky with both boys...that the nose loves the jumps, and
that you and your sis have the ability to play to Choccie's
strenghts!

Macho is starting to hit his stride...it's wonderful to see he and
katie together these days. I have to admit to being a bit
envious....he's now "katie's" and i get to occassionally ride....but
it's all good!

My slave Sue like horses who are good to there humans but
do not baby them. But make you ride the rite way. She says
lots of stock horses like you are like this. Because you think
for yourself.

I no that she is a big fan of you Mach.  And Mocha too.

The man slave says Bays are the PRETTIEST horse color out there.  He
likes them big bays, and that you know how to JUMPE over thinks makes
it even better.  He would gift you lots and lots of treats. rilly!

I think my slaves like that we do not show much dirt. Wen
you have Choccie to clene up I guess that is a good thing.

Yesterday wen I was out I rollded in the dirt. I do not role
much, but Choccie told me it would be gute to do so. So
I did. Wen my slave Nina came out ware I was she said
"Cruiser! You rolled!" I was very proud of myself. But then
the Nice Vet Lady who took care of my foot when I stepped
on the nail put sharp pointy things in my neck.

So now I am a little worried. If I roll in the dirt will I get
sharp pointy things in my neck?

I like the vet human. And she says I am very good for
the pointy things. My slaves say, I am silly; it is not
for rolling, it is for keeping you from getting sik. And
if you get sik you might not want to ete.

That would be very bad because I love to ete. I love it
even more than jumping. But not as much as treetz.

But treetz are eting too. So I guess that counts.

next time you come to NJ, we can make the slave bring a saddle with
the horn think.  you can try it!  we can take pictures of your Donal
slave riding you!  then we can laugh at him!

My cuzzin sez that wen he was at the old place, Donal wuld
come up and ride him and other horses. Two of the horses,
their owner rode Western so he would ride in her saddle.
Only thing was my cuzzin thinks it was a lady saddle and
it wuz too small for Irish Trayner, who sed it was killing
him.

The other thing was, that lady liked lots of bling. One time
my slave Sue brought her one horse out and she had
bling bit and bridal with horse hair tassels on her horse.
Donal does not like bling so he looked a little sick.

The best though, my cuzzin sez, is wen the barn owner's
son who did jimkana brought all his tack out for Donal
to see. It was all matching lime green. Which is wat
Donal's face looked like wen he saw it.

Hi Nose-

The kid is here now, she says she made me go gut today, but we all
know it's me! she thinks she's kool caus we do skippy thinks--we
lopey one way on da circle, then go make another circle thinky, and i
skippy in the middle and we go. she thinks she gets me to do it. i
know i'm gonna do it. she's along for da ride!

the kid likes more bling than tha fat slave. but, no lime green on
leather stuff, just silver things that shiney. the kid likes purple
stuff...do you know how much the other yeloow horses laff at me cause
i get stuck wearing purple sheets? and boots? they laff and laff.

here's the think..you will not get pointy thinks in your neck if you
roll. that was a mean trick they played. did you get treats??????
tell cruiser that you should both roll every day. if you do it near
the water tub outside, you kin get gut and muddy. that makes the
slaves say words my mummy said to NEVER say!

oh...the clumsy thinks with the big floppy ears and go "maaaaaaaaaaa
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" like to ete tails.

I will do passage. And he scared the other horses wen
he did the passage! So my slave Nina, she said, Choccie
you must not scare the other horses. And she told him
to just trot around.

the kid likes more bling than tha fat slave. but, no lime green on
leather stuff, just silver things that shiney. the kid likes purple
stuff...do you know how much the other yeloow horses laff at me cause
i get stuck wearing purple sheets? and boots? they laff and laff.

Purple is not so bad. It is a royal color so maybe that is
why she picks it for you. At least you are not wearing pink
stuff.

Missie at the barn has all purple stuff. I think it is a girl
thing to buy purple stuff and make your horse ware it.

But it is not pink. That would be bad.

here's the think..you will not get pointy thinks in your neck if you
roll. that was a mean trick they played. did you get treats??????
tell cruiser that you should both roll every day. if you do it near
the water tub outside, you kin get gut and muddy. that makes the
slaves say words my mummy said to NEVER say!

My slaves and the nice vet said I needed the pointy things
because I was going to some big horse shows and there
would be lots of horses there and some might have bugz!

I do not like bugz! at all. So the shotz were okay.
