Punt guns were used by waterfowl market hunters many years ago. I saw
one mounted on the wall at Bombay Hook Federal Refuge but they took it down.

Quote: Gotta be illegal for hunting, ya think?
I believe you have to have a Class III license for anything larger
than 50 caliber (1/2 inch diameter bore). And, yes, I would imagine
it would be illegal for hunting...not to mention unwieldy.

Well sort of. There are some caliber restrictions for *rifles*, but
they don't apply to shotguns; the ubiquitous 12 ga is 73 caliber.
There are limitations for waterfowl hunting. 10 ga is the maximum
allowed and even that is restricted in some places.
Punt guns have been illegal for hunting for decades. |
