LOL, last April, I went to the UP of Michigan to film some wild boar
hunting. While I was there, the owner of Hog Wild asked me if I saw a
four-horned Jacob's Sheep running around with only three horns, would I
please shoot it? With one horn broken off, none of his hunters wanted to
shoot it, so without any "trophy value" he'd rather see me shoot it and have
some fun hunting it. Of course, I said 'Sure!"
As luck would have it, while we were doing a stalk on some boars, we ran
into a small flock of mixed exotic rams, one of them only carrying three
horns. I got lucky and put an arrow through him and down he went. While it
doesn't have the Jacob's Ram's four horns, it was still a striking looking
animal, but not perhaps one that I would have a shoulder mount made. But I
am pleased with the animal, and decided that I'd have the skull beetle
cleaned and as such, needed to get the cape off to allow the beetles ready
access to the meat of the skull.
Well, over the years, I've caped numerous whitetail deer, black bears, wild
boars, elk, caribou, Corsican rams, bison and other assorted critters. Never
in my life have I encountered an animal that was such a bugger to cape out.
So what about making a taxidermist cry? Well, it's pretty simple. Go to
the UP of Michigan, book a Jacob's Sheep hunt and whack one. Then tell your
taxidermist you want a shoulder mount done. I guarantee that by the time
he's done, he'll be weeping with frustration!
If you'd like to see what my Jacob's looked like, here's a link to the
photo.

Good greif!
One of the things Ilike about lurking here and infrequently posting is
that I learn so much. I never even heard of such a thing as a Jacob's
sheep, let alone multi-horned animals, and I live in a country known
for its sheep!
What bizzare looking animal:

I am still trying to figure out if this is a hoax!
And I want one so bad! |

LOL, no hoax although they do look like they were built by a federal
government committee, doesn't it? When I was first invited to hunt exotic
rams, I didn't think I'd enjoy it. Yet with a bow or handgun, I found them
to be extremely challenging. I've now taken a Corsican Ram and the Jacob's
Ram, and had a ball with both.

Does this have to do with the fourth horn or finding the piece to fill the
cape?
