Hi
These tiny portable candlesticks were used for a number of purposes in
the 18/19th century, such as lighting cigars, melting sealing wax or as
safety candles on stairways where the light would go out once they
burned down to the wick holder. They used coiled wax, often coloured
red, green or yellow and examples seen generally have missing or damaged
coils.
Can anyone help in purchasing replacement coils, a surely some
specialist would be making them somewhere in the UK and possibly even in
the US?
