I am constantly coming across design objects -- furniture, housewares,
cameras, etc. -- that I think are beautiful but which I cannot
identify.
Like right now I am sitting on a pair of Steelcase 70s armchairs but I
cannot find a model number or any reference for them anywhere. Who
designed them? when were they issued? why are they no longer
available? do they have any value?
does anyone know of a site where you could submit a photo of
something for identification? There is usually someone out there who
has seen almost everything.

I can't imagine anyone going overboard looking for information on
Steelcase. They're still in business - find an address and ask them.
I doubt the chairs have any value, other than household auction or
garage sale value. I also doubt that any designer's name was ever
attached to them. I know their current lines don't have designers'
names, that I can find or that I've seen. I'm sitting in a fairly new
expensive office executive chair right now, and there was nothing on
the hang tag like that.

I was posting from my experience working in/with Steelcase furniture
for over 4 decades. Pardon me.
In any event, the OP should still just ask Steelcase.
