The Allies sure did re-build Germany and Japan after WWII. The Allies also
took care of Berlin after the Commies took over, remember the Berlin

The air-lift was years after the war. Right after the war, the allies
didn't care if the German population starved to death. Actually, it
seems that's kind of what they wanted. Have you heard about the
Morgenthau plan?.
That until they thought that Germany would be a good ally against
communism.
And I don't think that the US troops in Germany and Japan are there
because they wanna help them.-
Here's an essay on the Morgenthau Plan:

I do not see a problem. They are enjoying a higher quality of life than the

You don't see a problem?. I see we agree about that then.
About the quality of life, since this thread is about torture, I guess
you're kidding.

Here is an article about the history of Jews in Germany:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Jews
The Jewish community in Germany was utterly destroyed during th Nazi
era.
Did you know of the 6 million Jews killed by Hitler and his helpers, 1
million were little children? |

How little? My empathy stops, once kids get past the four-foot mark. |

Sox-Yanks on!
I saw the second half. Mo's 9th inning almost had me reaching for the

Then, I saw a little of the Rays tonight. The nerve of them being so
good!
I was sure the Sox would score with the bases loaded and no one out!
I don't know what's up with Tampa Bay. Teams aren't supposed to
improve
that much in a year's time!
Why not? If the Rockies can go from National League Champions to shit in
one year, why can't the reverse be true?

The Rockies play the Mets next week. I hope they stop "scoring lots
of runs" when they come to Shea. |

They may have made a deal with someone. I see a Broadway play and a
subsequent movie on their horizon. |

Shoot first, ask questions later. And you don't listen to Rush?
In a combat zone, Oh-Hell-Yes you shoot first, no time to think about
anything else but pulling the trigger first and often. Thats how you win
the conflict, you kill the enemy. Kinda like baseball, who scores most
often, wins.
No, I do not listen to Rush.
About a year ago I read an interesting article about the fighting in
Iraq. An American solider explained that under the rules of engagement
he must follow, there were at least 4 or 5 steps he had to take first
before he was supposed to pull the trigger. These steps were designed
to minimize injury to civilians and/or to minimize losses due to
friendly fire.
This soldier explained that insurgents and terrorists do not follow
such rules. They aim to kill first. They way he described it,
American soldiers were going into combat with at least one arm tied
behind their backs.- Hide quoted text -

So maybe immoral people have some adventage, not only in a war, but in
general. But that certainly doesn't mean we have to behave like that
also.-
You raise some good points. However I think it is important to note
that American men and women are going into battle with one hand tied
behind their backs. (do you understand that English expression?)- Hide quoted text -

Sure. It's the same in Spanish. |

Sorry for taking this long to answer. I've been crazy with exams...
Well, I think I was just confused. When you asked how it's said in
Spanish, I found I didn't know (!). I asked my mom and she thinks
there isn't an equivalent in Spanish. Funny, but the English
expression seemed so clear to me that I assumed there was a Spanish
equivalent.
Hmmmmmm.
That suggests to me that you speak fluent English since you are
obviously so comfortable in both languages.
I hope you did well on your exams. |
