If the goal is finding the person in the audience with the most skill,
I think you need to take into account how many people are on the side
switched to. If everyone has defected to white except one, and that
one wins, he should win the meta-game as well.

As I see it, if one person is left and he wins, then he should be the
winner, if he didn't defect.

Well, that's what I said :-)

I wouldn't try to balance it before I've tried it a bit. In the
scoring system I've proposed, the balance should come from

1. If you need to defect, you should do it as early as possible, to
get your share of the reward for all the later defectors.

2. If you're caught off guard and many team members leave your side
because of what you missed, you may be better off trying to make the
best out of it. If you should succeed in luring some of them back, you
will get a larger share of the reward.

There is an issue regarding if the position would likely be a draw
that needs to be dealt with.

Then the natural thing to do is to leave the point scores of the
individual audience members as they are.

I do agree, this needs to be tried. Anyone here want to work to
getting something up?

We could do it play-by-mail. I'm in if we reach 10 people.

Do you want to have someone manually tally everything?

An idea possibly would be to get a forum, have a board displayed, and
have people post their entries on a forum for their turn. Second side
goes, then everyone would send the moderator what side they are on.

One could use email to record moves.

What we could do now is 3-5 a side and try it without the side
switching and see how it goes. I am up for having it on the
abstractgamers site or the chessvariants site. We could actually do
both, communicate via the abstractgamers site (the forum allows for
sending private messages to people), and enter the moves on the CV
site.

Anyone else game? If I hear some yes here, I will go ahead and set up
something on abstractgamers.org site.

I'd prefer it if we did it all there, instead of across many sites.

It is now up on the CV website for discussion:
