Hello, all: I have a webpage devoted to the Rupert Little Bear Library
books. Someone just wrote to me with this query. Perhaps someone can
help? Thank you!
_______________________________________
I was interested in your page on early Rupert books and wonder if you might
possbly be able to help me locate two Rupert items which, it seems from
internet and everyone to whom I have spoken, are obscure or totally
unknown. I have only the skimpiest of references, but...
The first story I am trying to find appeared first at some time before 1922
and was repeated, in colour, in a Rupert annual in the 1930s or 1940s. It
concerns Rupert and a diving tank. In one scene there is an old sailor
rowing Rupert out to sea, approaching a diving tank [or bell] and bears the
rhyme
Soon they reached the diving tank.
"Is that it?" Rupert cried,
"The thing we go in"
"Yes, That's right!" the sailor man replied!
The second story also appeared in an early album, and the only information
I have one this one is that it contains a reference to "Tom Tiddler's
Ground"
Not much to go on, is it! Still, I'm trying in a vain hope that
somewhere, someone, sometime will surely recognise at least one of them! |
